It Started With A Candle… And A Lot Of Questions
Hi, I’m glad you’re here.
Relit Yourself started in 2021 in Brooklin, Ontario, with an idea from my husband and a love of candles I already had.
I’ve always been a candle person. Something about a good flame and a good scent just makes a room feel like yours.
But somewhere along the way, I started actually reading what was in the candles I kept buying. And once you start asking what’s in the wax, what’s in the wick, what’s in that “fragrance” on the label, you can’t really un-ask it.
As a mom with a daughter who has sensitive skin, and two dogs who think the whole house belongs to them, what we were burning at home stopped being a small thing to me. So I took over the kitchen table and started making my own. Test batches. Wax that didn’t set right. Scents that smelled incredible in the bottle and questionable once they hit the wick.
A lot of trial, a fair amount of error, and eventually, Relit Yourself.
Why “Relit Yourself”?
Because self-care doesn’t have to be a whole production. Sometimes it’s a bath, sometimes it’s five quiet minutes, sometimes it’s just lighting your favourite candle and letting your shoulders drop an inch.
That’s the name. A little nudge to pause and come back to yourself.
Still small. Still hands-on. Still us, at that same kitchen table.
